The Legislative Decree 8 June 2001, No. 231, “Discipline of the administrative responsibility of legal entities, companies and associations, which do not have a legal personality”, enacted in the implementation of Article 11 of the Act 29 September 2000, n. 300, has for the first time introduced criminal liability of companies and entities into our system for certain offences committed, or attempted, in their own interests or to their advantage by representatives and/or employees.

The responsibility of the institutions and companies is in addition to that of the individuals who have materially realized the wrongdoing.
The penalties that affect institutions and companies, for administrative wrongdoing soured by the crimes identified by the legislature are:

If the so-called “model 231” (Ethical Code, Organizational Model and Supervisory Board) is adopted, it is possible to escape sanctions.
